The Gators announced Anna Auld as the first official signee to the Gators’ 2021 women’s swimming and diving class on Wednesday.

Auld announced her verbal commitment to UF in November of 2019, making it official almost a full year later. The West Palm Beach, Florida, native is a USA Swimming Scholastic All-American.

In high school, Auld swam her way to six FHSAA 4A state finals. As a junior at Forest Hill High School, she earned second place in the 500-yard freestyle race with a time of 4:51.51. She also took third place in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:50.63 in the same year.

Auld also earned a spot on the 2019-20 USA Swimming Women’s National Junior Team for open water. She finished No. 16 at the 2019 USA Swimming 10K Open Water Championships.

Auld will also hit the water in the upcoming 2020 Toyota US Open in Sarasota, Florida, where she will be joined by 18 current Gators. The newest Florida signee will compete in only freestyle races, including the 800-, 400- and 1500-meter races.

She will be swimming in the meet as a member of the East Coast Aquatic Club. Auld will be the only swimmer at the US Open in Sarasota competing for the club team.

Auld’s strongest stroke is the freestyle, in which she competes best in distance. Auld also specializes in breaststroke and individual medley races, most notably the 400 individual medley and the 200 backstroke

The young swimmer will join the Gators for the 2021-22 season.
