A 47-year-old man was killed in a crash in Alachua around midnight Thursday after being hit by a car.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol press release, a 38-year-old man was driving south on Highway 441 at around 12:30 a.m. and drove toward Northwest 147th Drive while a pedestrian walked in the left southbound lane of the road.

The front of the sedan hit the pedestrian, according to the release. Alachua County Fire Rescue arrived and declared the mandead.
