Florida defensive lineman Brendan Bett suffered a lower-leg injury in the fourth quarter against the Hurricanes. With five minutes left in the game, Miami running back CharMar Brown attempted to cross the end zone and a pile formed near the goal line.
Bett was at the bottom of the pile and appeared to be in significant pain grabbing his right leg following the play. He was helped off the field by trainers.
Bett is one of four Florida players who left the game against the Hurricanes on Saturday. In the first quarter, Gators defensive back Aaron Gates suffered an arm injury and was later seen in a sling along the sidelines. In the third quarter, defensive back Dijon Johnson and wide receiver J. Michael Sturdivant suffered injuries and failed to return to the game.
Johnson suffered a non-contact injury while attempting to make a tackle and immediately clutched his right knee. He was seen on the sidelines being held up by crutches. Sturdivant went to the locker room and was evaluated for a concussion.
Heading into the matchup, Florida dealt with a slew of injuries among its defensive starters. Gators defensive lineman Caleb Banks underwent a foot procedure after exiting with a foot injury against Louisiana State on Sept. 13. Florida edge rushers George Gumbs Jr. and LJ McCray were both out indefinitely with lower-leg injuries.
