Early Sunday morning, 21-year-old Miguel Marin was arrested on two charges of battery after allegedly attacking two employees of The Arcade Bar on Main Street in downtown Gainesville.
According to the arrest report, Marin forced his way past the bouncer, leading an employee to escort him outside.
While being taken outside, Marin allegedly grabbed the employee’s throat and pushed him.
Once the employee successfully took Marin outside, Marin ran up to a second employee, who tried to prevent him from going back inside, according to the arrest report.
Marin then allegedly grabbed that employee’s head, leaving scratches on his face, as the employee punched Marin to get him to let go of him.
Gainesville Police Department officers responded to the incident and arrested Marin. The officers then took him to the Alachua County Jail.
Once at the jail, Marin allegedly became aggressive and attacked jail staff, leading to the use of force against him, according to a report filled out by the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office.
Medical staff at the county jail recommended Marin be taken to the hospital, where he was cleared to be returned to the jail.
As ACSO deputies took Marin back to the jail, Marin started kicking the door of the car while saying he was ready to go, according to the report.
This resulting damage to the car prevents the side door from closing, which means it can’t be used for transporting suspected criminals.
Marin is being charged with criminal mischief in addition to battery.
Bond was set at $500 for each of the battery charges and $2,500 for criminal mischief.
He is currently out on bond, according to the Alachua County Jail.
