Florida sophomore guard Liv McGill was named to the 2025-26 Preseason All-SEC Second Team after an impressive freshman campaign with the Gators.
Last season, the 2024 McDonald’s All-American made an immediate impact in Gainesville, quickly establishing herself as a cornerstone of Florida’s offense. McGill became the team’s leading scorer, averaging 16.5 points per game and added 4.6 rebounds 5.2 assists per game.
Her standout season was highlighted by breaking the program record for the most points scored by a freshman, finishing the year with 611.
McGill guided the Gators to the quarterfinals of the 2025 SEC Tournament, earning her a spot on the SEC All-Freshman Team. She also gained national recognition after being named to the WBIT All-Tournament Team, as Florida advanced to the semifinals in the event.
Before joining the Gators, the Minnesota native was a five-star recruit and the highest-ranked signee in Florida women’s basketball history. At Hopkins High School in Minneapolis, McGill led her team to two state championship finals.
The Gators will open their 2025-26 campaign on Nov. 3, when they host North Florida at the Exactech Arena inside the Stephen C. O’Connell Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
