Freshman Camyla Monroy dives in the Gators meet against Florida State, Friday, Jan. 26, 2024

Florida diving opened 2026 in Knoxville, Tennessee, with a full three-day slate of competition. The Gators squared off against Southeastern Conference programs Alabama, LSU and Tennessee, along with Southern Methodist University and North Carolina State.

Each school competed in one-meter, three-meter and platform events in both men’s and women’s categories.

Across the six programs, 17 divers competed in both the one-meter and three-meter events. While only 12 advanced to the final round, Florida saw a familiar face move on in both events.

Junior Camyla Monroy entered the invite fresh off an impressive first two years at Florida. She was named to the All-SEC first team in both 2024 and 2025, while also earning All-American honors in the one-meter dive in 2025.

Monroy began Wednesday’s competition with a score of 283.05 in the preliminary round of the women’s one-meter. The top-three score earned her a spot in Thursday’s finals.

All three of Monroy’s Florida counterparts joined her in the succeeding round. The junior took home the top spot in the one-meter championship while freshman Alexa Fung was close behind in third. Monroy totaled 309.95 points in the event while Fung picked up 279.35.

While they did not grab a podium finish, freshman Ava Brinkman and senior Casey Greenberg each qualified for the championships and rounded out the final spots.

Monroy continued her hot streak during Thursday’s three-meter slate. She placed second in the championship after scoring the event’s highest total in the preliminary round with 342.15 points. The closest score came from Tennessee’s Lynae Shorter with 280.25.

Shorter and Monroy traded spots in the finals, with the latter falling 15.9 points short of the top.

The third-year Gator closed out the invitational with a first-place finish in the women’s platform dive. She totaled 260.4 points, outscoring Greenberg by just 12.4. It was Greenberg’s only podium finish of the week.

The men saw less success than the women across the invite. After placing third in the men’s three-meter preliminaries, junior Conor Gesing fell to seventh in the finals. He picked up 361.5 points in the championship round while SMU’s Luke Sitz finished first with 434.5 points.

However, Gesing bounced back on the next day of competition, finding fourth in the men’s one-meter championship.

In the three-meter, the Gators’ top finish came from freshman Jesus Agundez. The La Paz, Mexico, native added a third-place finish just 8.95 points behind Tennessee’s Thomas Ciprick.

Rounding out Florida’s diving events was sophomore Jesus Gonzalez and senior Elisha Dees. The duo finished second and third place, respectively, in the men’s platform event.

Gonzalez captured the program platform record last season as a freshman with 452.35 points. He came just shy of first place during Friday’s outing, scoring 350.35. He looked up at SMU's Grant Cates with 354.90 points.

Dees, a Jacksonville local, added 331.85 points in the finals to secure third. The platform event was his lone in the championship round.

The Gators will travel to Auburn, Alabama, to take on the Tigers on Jan. 16 at noon James E. Aquatics Center.
