Interim Provost Joe Glover announced the search for a permanent dean of the College of Medicine at the UF Faculty Senate meeting Thursday, led by UF Interim President Dr. Donald Landry.
Three other dean searches were announced at the meeting, in addition to changes to the master’s curriculum.
Glover also announced searches for permanent deans of the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering and the College of the Arts. He also said the dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine, Dana Zimmel, expressed intentions to retire, so a search for her successor will commence.
Searches for a new dean of the College of Medicine are typically handled by senior and executive vice presidents, Glover said, but Landry will commence the search because of his experience in medicine.
A formal announcement about the search has not yet been made.
Changing degree programs
The graduate council announced plans to close the computer science master's program in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences on Dec. 9, 2025, and to create a new Master of Health Administration program. The motions were passed at the meeting Thursday.
No students are currently enrolled in the CLAS computer science master's program, Tom Kelleher said, as all of the students in this program are enrolled at Wertheim instead.
The new Master of Health Administration will be a 42-credit program primarily offered in person, with some online coursework. The program will be tailored to working professionals, Kelleher said, so the admissions requirements will include professional experience.
