The No. 1 interior offensive lineman in the 2027 recruiting class committed to Florida Wednesday. Maxwell Hiller, a 6-foot-5 high school junior, sported offers from Alabama, Tennessee and Ohio State before committing to the Gators.

Hiller plays in the trenches for the Coatesville Red Raiders and was ranked as the No. 7 athlete in the ESPN SC Next 300 rankings. The 300-pound offensive lineman will work with Phil Trautwein, Florida’s position coach, and Rusty Whitt, the director of football performance, to develop at the collegiate level.

“I’m home, go Gators,” Hiller posted on his social media.

Hiller, a Pennsylvania native, is also 247Sports’ No. 4 recruit in the 2027 class, making his commitment a major addition to Florida’s roster. He will join the Gators’ 2027-28 crew in Sumrall’s second year at the helm.

He was named a MaxPreps All-America second-team selection in 2024 after starting at right tackle for the Red Raiders. Hiller was also invited to the 2026 Under Armour All-America game.

Hiller had visited UF twice ahead of his commitment, including for Saturday’s scrimmage. He marks the first top-10 ranked offensive lineman to land at Florida since Martez Ivey in 2015. Ivey joined D.J. Humphries in 2012 as the two top-10 recruits to take their talents to the Gators.

Trautwein enters his first season with Florida and has landed one of the most sought-after recruits in the program’s history. The offensive line coach enters his first season in Gainesville after spending the 2020-25 with Penn State. He sported more than a decade of experience ahead of his impending time with the Gators.

Trautwein and Hiller had formed a relationship prior to the former playing at the high school level. Trautwein attempted to recruit Hiller while in Happy Valley and has officially landed the No. 1 player in Pennsylvania, per 247Sports
