Gainesville man charged with exposing himself in Westmoreland

Richard Rivers showed his genitals to a woman and later to police, according to an arrest report

Richard Rivers, a 54-year-old Gainesville man, was arrested Sunday on charges of indecent exposure.

According to the arrest report, a woman was walking in the Westmoreland neighborhood in northwest Gainesville when Rivers asked her to come to his front porch. He said he wanted to show her something inside the house, according to the arrest report.

When the woman refused, Rivers revealed his genitals.

Gainesville Police Department officers arrived an hour later. Rivers denied exposing himself to the woman, according to the report. He told the officer he had been flirting with her. He then demonstrated to the officer by reaching into his pants and exposing himself again.

Rivers was booked into the Alachua County Jail, where he awaits trial. His bond is set at $15,000.
