UF Homecoming kicked off with the parade, which returned for the first time since 2019. Dance performances, public figures, marching bands, fire trucks and more entertained the crowd. Some people arrived at 9 a.m. to secure their spot on the sidewalk for the parade.
Eli is a fourth-year journalism student and photographer for the U.S Army. In the past Eli has covered stories for the U.S Army and been a photographer for several student organizations at UF. Eli loves to hang out with their dog, take black and white photos, and have dinner with friends.
Esha is currently a second year Psychology student at the University of Florida. In the past, she worked as the Chief Editor at Delhi Public School, Bangalore North. In her free time, Esha loves to read and play video games.
Kiara is a UF student who is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts with a focus in photography. Although her background is in artistic photography, Kiara's passion for photojournalism has always been the most important to her. Kiara is also very passionate about music, and in her spare time collects records and attends as many live music events as she can.

A glance at reality for Gainesville City Commissioner-at-Large Reina Saco
Feb. 4Reina Saco and her family immigrated from Cuba to the United States when she was 4. They were held in a refugee camp for about a year before being paroled. Today, she is a Gainesville city commissioner-at-large -- a highly educated woman who strives to assist low-income and immigrant community members while maintaining the city's safety. Saco recently gave birth to her first child, Jojo. She works with her husband, Adam, to balance motherhood and government all at once. Holding a powerful position as a woman, immigrant and mother puts her in uncomfortable and dangerous situations daily, yet she remains brave and bold in her actions, words and lifestyle.
