Zak Kostamo, a 20-year-old UF microbiology and cell sciences sophomore, cleans up painting supplies Saturday afternoon during Project Makeover Weekend at Lake Forest Elementary School. Project Makeover is an organization that selects one low-income school in Alachua County each year and helps out over the course of three days by painting murals and landscaping around the building. The organization has 105 full-time members, including Kostamo and about 1,300 volunteers who help during the makeover weekend.
