My name is Ricky Salabarria, and I currently serve as the Swamp Party spokesman. I am very excited to announce that our party’s slate for the Spring 2015 Student Government Elections has been released. After three days of qualifying, slating and interviewing, Swamp Party is confident that we have selected the 50 most qualified and capable students to serve in the Student Senate and bring our university the experience it deserves.

This year, 617 of the 801 students that slated at the Reitz Union Grand Ballroom slated with Swamp Party. We truly appreciate the continued dedication students show to our party and its values by slating with us. Every year, the bar is continually raised as we interview more and more qualified students. We heard a vast amount of excellent ideas for a variety of different colleges from those who came to slate. After a rigorous decision-making process, we decided on the 50 candidates we felt best aligned with our party’s ideals and who were best suited for each seat.

Having to decide on only 50 students is a very difficult process, especially at a university like ours that fosters an incredibly competitive environment. The Swamp Party Executive Board prides itself on success and believes that we are presenting the most qualified slate we have ever released.

The 50 students who were chosen to run with Swamp Party fit as a perfect compliment to our powerful, hardworking executive ticket. As always, we held to our tradition of selecting experienced and determined leaders to represent our student body.

Student Government plays an integral role in providing for students and improving life both inside and outside of the classroom. We are proud to announce our full, qualified Senate slate for the Spring 2015 elections.

The experience you deserve,

Ricky Salabarria

Swamp Party spokesman
