Florida added one of the top junior college hitters in the country with Gaston College first baseman Caden Davidson announcing his commitment to the Gators on social media.
The right-handed hitter put together a dominant freshman campaign, batting .500 with 23 home runs, 18 doubles and 110 RBIs through 58 games. His performance earned him 2026 NJCAA First Team All-America honors.
Davidson also displayed advanced plate discipline throughout the season. He finished with 46 walks and just 28 strikeouts, helping him post a .620 on-base percentage while nearly doubling his walk-to-strikeout ratio.
The Fletcher, North Carolina, native originally committed to Wake Forest after entering the transfer portal but backed out following coaching changes.
Davidson arrived at Gaston College as a third baseman out of high school but primarily played first base during his lone season with the Rhinos.
He becomes the seventh transfer portal addition for Florida this offseason and the program's first junior college transfer. Davidson is also the third infielder the Gators have added through the portal.
With first baseman Landon Stripling potentially returning and third baseman Ethan Surowiec re-signing for next season, Davidson's defensive role remains uncertain. Regardless of where he lines up, his offensive production gives Florida another impactful bat heading into the 2027 season.
