TV characters with the best style

Wouldn’t it be a great if we all had millions of dollars to buy whatever clothes we wanted? Unfortunately, it’s pretty hard to wear Marc Jacobs and Michael Kors all day every day when you’re a college student. Or to wear Juciy Couture sweatshirts over your pajamas when you’re a waitress. And yet, TV characters do these things. It’s totally normal for TV characters with no money to wear name brand clothes. So, let’s talk about TV characters with a great sense of style, even if it’s totally unrealistic.

  1. Penny from The Big Bang Theory. She’s a waitress at the Cheesecake Factory, and yet she has a great wardrobe. I know. It doesn’t quite make sense, but we all just go with it because we like her so much. She wears bright-colored clothes from Juicy Couture and many other cute dresses and outfits from other brands.
  2. Haley from Modern Family. She’s probably my favorite TV ditz. She definitely doesn’t get the best grades. But she’s so funny and dresses so well, so, we love her anyway. I like to think of her style as boho-chic/preppy. She rocks the flowy dresses and skirts but also wears cute cardigans.
  3. Lorelai from Gilmore Girls. She has a ton of shoes, and every pair is so cute. Pretty much all of her outfits are from designers. And while Lorelai isn’t rolling in the dough, so she probably couldn’t actually afford her clothing, she loves clothes, so it makes sense that she always looks great. She and Rory always go shopping together. And in one episode, Rory and Lorelai joke about being in a zen trance. Rory says she’s in Greece; Lorelai’s in Bergdorf Goodman’s. Sounds familiar, ladies, huh?
  4. Betty Francis from Mad Men. Former Mrs. Draper rocks the '60s attire. Make her your fashion idol, but please limit it to fashion. In other respects, she’s… well, just not the best idol. But her iconic sense of style and elbow-length white gloves make her closet something all girls should envy.
  5. Lily Aldrin from How I Met Your Mother. Boots on boots on boots. This woman is obsessed with boots. When she’s upset about something like a fight with Marshall, work stress or credit card debt, she buys boots. And while that only makes her credit card debt worse, it makes her closet beautiful. And I mean, who can blame her? Boots make things better. She’s always dressed in classy yet trendy clothes. But in the latest season, when she gets a job as an art consultant, she takes the artsy look a bit too far, and Marshall calls her out on it. And while it may have been a bit much, her poncho and feather hat were very chic. So, I still consider it a fashion-do.
