Florida baseball head coach Kevin O'Sullivan argues with in the sixth inning of a 19-1 loss to South Alabama on June 5.

The University of Florida announced that longtime baseball coach Kevin O’Sullivan is taking a leave of absence to address personal matters, according to a press release. No more details are known at this time.

Assistant head coach Chuck Jeroloman will lead the program in O’Sullivan’s absence.

Jeroloman has been part of the Gators’ coaching staff since 2020 and was promoted to assistant head coach in 2024.

“I appreciate the support of the University and athletic department,” O’Sullivan said via press release. “I have some personal and family issues that need my full attention at this time.”

Florida athletic director Scott Stricklin also released a statement on the matter.

"Coach O'Sullivan has our full support as he takes the time he needs to focus on personal matters," Stricklin said. "We appreciate his openness in communicating this decision, and respect his need for privacy."

O’Sullivan heads into his 19th season at Florida and has led the program to a 756–371 record, including one national championship and a runner-up finish in 2023.

Most recently, Florida was eliminated in regional play to end the 2025 season. During the regional, O’Sullivan got into a heated exchange with NCAA officials over a time change for UF’s elimination game.

He was later given a three-game suspension by the UF baseball program for his conduct during the tournament.

O’Sullivan was scheduled to serve the suspension to open the 2026 season against UAB from Feb. 13-15.
