The Florida Gators have added one of college baseball's most experienced and accomplished recruiters to Kevin O'Sullivan's coaching staff, hiring Todd Butler as an assistant coach after three seasons at Oklahoma.
Butler arrives in Gainesville fresh off a national championship win with the Sooners. He served as both an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator during his time in Norman.
The veteran coach brings more than 30 years of collegiate coaching experience to Florida. Before returning to his alma mater at Oklahoma, Butler spent two decades coaching and recruiting in the SEC with stops at Alabama, Arkansas and Missouri.
Recruiting has long been Butler's calling card. Over his career, he has helped produce 10 top-10 national recruiting classes while coaching teams that reached five College World Series, six Super Regionals and 17 NCAA Tournaments.
His players have also found success at the next level. Butler has coached 36 All-Americans and freshman All-Americans, and 171 MLB Draft picks.
Butler previously served as the head coach at Wichita State from 2014 to 2019, where he oversaw 28 MLB Draft selections. His 2014 recruiting class ranked No. 2 nationally, and his 2018 team produced 11 draft picks, including third baseman Alec Bohm, who was selected No. 3 overall by the Philadelphia Phillies.
Before Wichita State, Butler led McNeese State from 2001 to 2003. He guided the Cowboys to the 2003 Southland Conference Tournament championship and an NCAA Regional appearance.
Butler now joins a revamped Florida coaching staff as O'Sullivan looks to reload the Gators following the 2026 season.
