Update Sept. 2, 3:07 a.m.:
There's possibility UF players will be suspended for the Week 2 matchup with Kentucky.
...
The Gators will open their 2018 season against Charleston Southern without some key players.
Seven players will not suit up for tonight’s game for “not living up to the Gator standard,” according to Gatorcountry.com.
Among those suspended are senior defensive lineman CeCe Jefferson, sophomore receiver Kadarius Toney, sophomore defensive lineman Luke Acrum, sophomore cornerback Brian Edwards, sophomore running back Adarius Lemons and redshirt freshman lineman James Washington, brother of former UF safety Nick Washington.
Jefferson will not be available for “academic reasons,” according to the AP’s Mark Long.
Toney was involved in multiple offseason incidents.
The first incident was an on-campus altercation in May that involved several other Gators’ players and a Santa Fe student. In a separate incident, Gainesville police pulled Toney over with a loaded AR-15 in his car.
