You are cordially invited to a Mad Hatter’s ball. Don’t be late for this very important date.

You’ve seen the new movie, and you’ve read all the books and maybe even had your own “down-the-rabbit-hole experience,” so what’s next? Why, a theme party, of course.

The Network Promotions, a Gainesville-based nightlife promotions and event planning company, is throwing the ball tomorrow night at 10. According to Glenn Cameron, a company employee, Rue Bar will be transformed into a psychedelic world of nonsense where the bizarre and the absurd will become the norm.

“I hired two actors, one to play Alice and one to play the Mad Hatter. We’ll also have a magician on hand and a peculiar hat contest,” he said.

The hat contest is open to all, and the winner will receive a bar tab and a cell phone from Metro PCS.

Cameron said the decorations will include rabbit prints walking away from the doors and upside-down umbrellas on the ceiling as well as paper lanterns, Victorian chairs and a huge photo background to take photos.

“We’re into doing themes because those are a lot cooler and more fun,” he said.

Cameron has been working at the company for about a year, but he said he “kind of fell into event planning by accident.”

“I’m a biology major at UF, but I enjoy planning and creating these events, and I’m learning a lot about business in the process,” he said. “I’m just too far into my degree to switch majors, so I’m going to finish it out.”

So remember kids, follow the white rabbit...to Rue Bar.
