I don’t know how other students prepared for his or her freshman year, but I did extensive research. As geeky as it was, I looked up college reviews all summer before coming to UF. I was determined to prepare myself for everything college would throw at me. It turns out that no amount of reading could compare to the real experience.

The search has continued this week to try to find Christian Aguilar, the missing 18-year-old UF student. He’s been missing since Sept. 20. The more details are released about this case, the more search efforts increase. I agree with David Bradshaw that the recently enacted Student Government campaign rules needlessly obstruct free speech. I write to encourage fellow students and the administration to oppose these unreasonable time constraints on a candidate’s ability to campaign for SG elections. The troubling restriction prohibits “any intentional action in support of … a candidate or party for an elective student body office and posting of election specific materials…” more than one week before the election.
