As noted in last week’s Darts & Laurels, a Kentucky clerk has been jailed for refusing to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples. She appealed her case all the way to the Supreme Court — who ruled this summer that marriage is a right to be enjoyed by all — and was denied an appeal. Despite being effectively ordered to do so by the highest authority of law in the U.S., she still refused to issue licenses.

The UF Student Senate has two meetings remaining this Summer, and while the chamber has had the opportunity to approve budgets and pass more than a dozen resolutions, it has yet to have the chance to approve all of the Executive Branch agency heads.

Hillary Clinton has yet to formally launch her bid for the White House, but with the email scandal setting her down a rocky road, Democrats may start to reconsider support for the former secretary of state. Yes, Clinton remains the favorite to win the Democratic nomination next year, and she has a better-than-even chance at the White House. Still, Democrats may want other options. Sure, Vice President Biden is toying with the idea of running for a third time, but few believe Biden has a legitimate shot at the White House. The one Democrat whose name is starting to appear in recent stories is that of former Vice President Al Gore.
