The inside of the Hub may seem a little less crowded.
Students at UF are getting their money’s worth.
We all know the drill. You see an acquaintance from afar. You don’t really feel like talking to him, so you pull out your cellphone and feign interest in it. You keep your eyes glued to the screen so you don’t make eye contact with the person you’re avoiding. Once you’re at a safe distance, the relief sets in that you’ve dodged the proverbial bullet that is face-to-face interaction.
Although it has existed as a program for fewer than four years, Florida has already developed an out-of-conference rival in Syracuse.
If you’re a freshman at UF, you might be able to buy a self-driving car soon after you graduate. Google co-founder Sergey Brin predicted last fall that his company’s autonomous vehicles would be available to “everyday people” by 2017. The smart cars, guided by advanced software and undulating infrared lasers, have driven more than 300,000 miles without crashing. This could entail greater safety and convenience for UF students, including the ability to nap as your vehicle ushers you home from a late-night study session at Library West.
It’s been almost a whole month since our last edition of Darts & Laurels. We at the Alligator newsroom love to throw flowers at the do-gooders and little shafts of metal at the not-so-do-gooders. So, without further ado, we present our we-can-hardly-hold-back-any-longer edition of:

With Florida down 2-0 to Missouri in the bottom of the second Saturday night, senior outfielder Kelsey Horton came to bat with a chance to even the score.
The summer is the time to relax, start a job or internship or take a couple of classes. After finals, it can be hard to move back home and readjust to our typical diets. Most of us go through phases of what we eat on a daily basis, but now is the time to try something new (and not the cookie butter at Trader Joe’s). We’ve come up with three ways to adjust our diets to the summer, starting with the best: drinks.
Summer is a time for movies and a time for love. This week’s What To Watch movie combines them both.
Spring cleaning is a phrase that most dread hearing, but for Gainesville residents, the process can now be completed in an efficient, “green” way.
World of Beer is the newest bar in Newberry that boasts more than 500 bottles and 40 drafts from around the globe. After its grand opening Monday, May 6, this watering hole was christened into, and perhaps now leads the ranks of, the top places to satisfy a thirsty, variety-craving beer palate.
We know it as the historic building nestled between the high-end restaurants and hole-in-the-wall clubs that flood the streets on many weekends. But the Hippodrome State Theatre is a cultural hub of artistic expression and theatrical excellence. And it’s having a birthday.
It’s barely been six months since the release of Apple’s iPhone 5, but already people across the spectrum of media have been bouncing news and speculation toward the next iPhone.
Everyone knows about the typical “cut out all junk food” diet, but does that actually work in the long run? The answer is no.
After the alphabetical chanting is over and your sassy Preview staffer has left you with a kind note of encouragement, you leave Preview weekend with a schedule of classes, too many papers to keep track of and a pleasant (or haunting) experience rooming with another person in a brick white-walled dorm room. Though that schedule may look solid, chances are you may want to switch things around. Maybe you want to pursue another major, or MMC1702 Rock n’ Roll & American Society seems too good to miss. Choosing courses can get tricky and frustrating, but there are plenty of sources to rely on when you need guidance.
Summer vacation is here, which means most college students have a lot of free time on their hands.
