Senior dogs find a home with the Rolands

Ralph and Gail Roland share their 2,400-square-foot house in Melrose with 29 dogs. They adopt the seniors that shelters and owners can't keep. The Roland Senior Dog Rescue Gang is a registered nonprofit as of July, but the Rolands do most of the work on their own.

Our take on Innovation Academy

In case you missed it, we published a five-part series this week exploring UF’s Innovation Academy, a program currently in its third year. Basically, students enrolled in the program go to school for the Spring and Summer semesters, as opposed to the traditional Fall and Spring. After hearing from several students who had both positive and negative things to say, we decided to look into five ways IA students are affected by the program: campus involvement, academics, pre-professional opportunities, finances and getting in and getting out.

Millennials must engage in 2016 election season

With more than a year and a half until Election Day 2016, presidential candidates are announcing their intent to run for the White House. Thus begins silly season. Earlier this week, pundits analyzed, criticized and dissected Hillary Clinton’s and Marco Rubio’s campaign logos because political pundits are now experts in graphic design. What the American people can’t afford is yet another presidential election bogged down in debates over the minutiae and plagued by typical mudslinging.
