NIH grants $9m to UF center to study small molecules

The Southeast Center for Integrated Metabolomics at UF was recently awarded a five-year, $9 million grant from the National Institutes of Health. Metabolomics is the study of small molecules, called metabolites, that are a byproduct of the metabolic process. They help sustain life by converting energy from food.

Reality TV — looking at you, Duck Dynasty — is glorifying redneck stereotypes

Attention TV fanatics of America: the Kardashians have been officially dethroned by a new family of reality royals. The fellas of “Duck Dynasty” made history in August when their season 4 premiere became the most-watched reality telecast of all time. They had 11.8 million viewers, topping even the popular competition show “America’s Got Talent.”

I’ve said it before and I’m about to say it again- super cheesy touristy things are really fun, but so are super-under-the radar unknown activities, especially when you’re visiting super touristy big cities.
