Downtown Library to host free film series

Mindful Movies, a free film series, kicks off 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. tonight at Alachua County’s Downtown Branch Library. Mindful Movies will play documentaries to create community dialogue about global issues and how they can be addressed locally, press liaison Sarah Thompson said.

Occupy protests one year old

Occupy Gainesville observed the one-year anniversary of its parent movement Monday. However, the organization decided not to host an event. Instead it opted to celebrate Occupy Gainesville’s one-year anniversary later this month, said Tommy Baker, a UF alumnus.
