Head hung, hands clasped loosely on the table in front of him, Austin John Wright?s hazel eyes peered down at his lap. He waited anxiously for the hearing to begin, knowing that in a matter of hours, he might be trading in his neatly pressed slacks for a jumpsuit and a pair of handcuffs.

Another semester online

So we just got the first paper of the new semester up. I'm continuing my reign as managing editor / online, but with many of the Web site issues already ironed out, hopefully we'll have more time to work on new features and projects.

Swimming and diving teams have successful weekend

The UF men's and women's swimming and diving teams used a combined 14 first-place finishes and five NCAA provisional qualifying times over the weekend to each pick up wins against Indian River Community College, while the No. 5 men also defeated No. 12 Purdue twice and the No. 7 women topped Arkansas at the O'Connell Center.

On Thursday, a Leon County circuit court judge tossed out a lawsuit intended to clarify who has the right to control tuition - the state Legislature or the Board of Governors, the governing body of Florida?s public universities.
