Protesters' actions were merited

In regards to the protests surrounding former U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales' speech at UF, I have a few important observations to make. As a participant in the protests, I can assure you we take the First Amendment right of freedom of speech very seriously. For the purpose of protecting both Mr. Gonzales' and our First Amendment rights, we unanimously decided our protests should be visual, not vocal.

Tebow suffers fractured right hand against FSU

UF quarterback Tim Tebow played the majority of the second half of Saturday's 45-12 victory against Florida State with a fractured right hand, University Athletic Association sports information director Steve McClain said Sunday.

Holding Out For A Hero

(Charles Roop / Alligator Staff) Shweta Mokashi waits in line in a tent outside of Best Buy on Archer Road on Thursday night for the Black Friday sales. Mokashi said she had been in line since 5 p.m. Wednesday. Shoppers across the country packed retail stores Friday in a bid to snag the best bargains. Although sales were better than expected over the holiday weekend, the spike may have been due to shoppers buying items from discount stores like Wal-Mart. That could mean bad news for more upscale chains. Macy's Inc. and Toys "R" Us were two stores expected to do well over the weekend. Charles Roop

Tebow vs. Hayes Round 1, UF 7-3.

Tim Tebow would never admit to it, but he sent a message to Geno Hayes and the Seminoles on the Gators' first drive. After Hayes got in Tebow's face, the sophomore sensation then proceeded to run for a first down on 3rd and 15. After that Tebow avoided two 'Noles Defenders and ran it in for a touchdown from 22-yards out. The Gators lead 7-3.
