The fall season for the UF women’s tennis team ended on the sweet note of victory.

Katie Kubicz easily won her match to claim the Flight C singles title at the Seminole All-Conference Showdown.

The sophomore was matched up with McNeese State’s Charoline Erlandsson in the finals of the Flight C singles draw. Kubicz put Erlandsson away in straight sets in a 6-4, 6-2 win, giving Kubicz the title.

Tsveta Dimitrova and Marlee Zein also won their respective consolation singles matches after winning the Flight A doubles title on Saturday.

Dimitrova faced off against Christina Jordan of West Virginia. The junior overwhelmed Jordan in straight sets 6-1, 6-1.

Zein’s match against Wisconsin’s Anna Markasova required a little more work, but she came out of it with UF’s third win in straight sets to cap off an undefeated day. The freshman won the first set against Makarova easily in a 6-1 win. The second set needed to be settled with a tiebreaker, but Zein prevailed 7-5 for the victory.

The Seminole All-Conference Showdown was the women’s tennis team’s final fall tournament, and the spring season will begin with the Freeman Memorial in Las Vegas on January 18th.
