In the fourth round, the fifth Gator heard his name called during the 2020 NFL Draft.
Senior running back Lamical Perine was selected by the New York Jets with the 120th pick of the draft, making him the first Florida running back to be picked in the NFL Draft since Jordan Scarlett was taken in the 2019 Draft during the sixth round.
It's also the earliest a UF back has been taken in the draft since Matt Jones was picked by the Washington Redskins in the third round of the 2015 NFL Draft.
Perine follows defensive lineman Jabari Zuniga — who was selected in the third round by the Jets — in heading to New York.
The 5-foot-11, 218-pound tailback had nearly 2,500 total rushing yards during his career at Florida, adding 22 rushing touchdowns while he was a Gator.

Perine's best production came during his junior season (826 rushing yards and seven rushing touchdowns), despite the decision to return for his senior season.
While his production took a dip his final year in Gainesville, his two best games came against high-quality opponents in Auburn and Virginia.
Perine will now compete for that second spot behind Jets starter Le'Veon Bell.
