Important privacy settings on Facebook that you need to know: Part 2

Now, that you have understood the first five important privacy settings, let us discuss the remaining privacy settings.

Ok, so how many applications do you use on Facebook? If you don't know, it is time you learn the settings associated with each of these applications. When you visit an application, you get a prompt requesting you to give it permission to publish stories to news feed without your permission. This is where you need to take control. Suppose you took the “Did We Have Sex” quiz or used the “Send a friend Rohypnol”  application, while these may look like harmless attempts at fun for your friends, your colleagues or employers might not find it tasteful to see this appear in their news feed. Hence, when you install an application make sure you have control over the news feed and also visit Accounts->Application Settings to make sure that no news stories can be published without your consent.

All of us have added several people we are not exactly good friends with and we do not want all our contact information to be displayed to them, such as our e-mail and phone number. To disable certain people from gaining access to your contact information, you need to go Privacy Settings->Contact Information->Customize and then customize it according to your choice.

There could have been many times when you have been embarrassed when your boss/colleagues/relatives read few revealing/suggestive wall posts on your Facebook profile and later asked you about them. To avoid such a scenario, you can go to Privacy Settings->Profile Information->Wall Posts and then choose who can post on your wall or you can go to Privacy Settings-->Profile Information ->Posts of Friends and choose who can view your wall posts. In this way, you have control over who can write and view wall posts on your profile.

If some friends of yours have received requests from unknown people who are in your friend’s list and are not comfortable with it, it is time to change that. Head to your Privacy Settings->Profile Information->Friends->Customize. Now, you don't have to worry about making your friends uncomfortable again!

We learn about relationships among our friends through Facebook. The hookups and breakups are published in the news feed for everybody to comment on. If you would like your relationship status to be private or known only to selected people, you need to go to Privacy Settings->Family and Relationship->Customize. This will make sure to keep prying eyes away and keep your privacy intact.

You are now endowed with knowledge related to all aspects of Facebook privacy. Use Facebook as many times and in which ever way you like, but remember to always use your privacy settings wisely.
