A Gainesville man was arrested Saturday night after police said he grabbed his girlfriend and refused to let her go, despite her screaming and struggling.

Ryan Walters, 26, was arrested at about 9:30 p.m. on charges of battery for dating violence and resisting an officer without violence.

Police observed Walters and the victim arguing before she tried to run away at 1620 W. University Ave. Walters grabbed the victim and held her as she repeatedly said, "Ryan, let me go."

She repeatedly tried to push away and free herself from Walters’ grip, the report stated.

Officers approached Walters and the victim, ordering Walters to let her go.

Walters refused and continued to restrain the victim before officers tossed him to the ground and arrested him.



A Gainesville man was arrested early Saturday morning after police said he made harassing phone calls to a woman he was dating.

An intoxicated Cameron C. Bacchus, 30, was thrown out of :08 nightclub at 201 W. University Ave. after causing a disturbance with the victim. He then stood outside of the club and repeatedly called her.

A club bouncer reported the man’s behavior at about 2:30 a.m. and said Bacchus released air from two of the victim’s tires.

While on the scene, officers witnessed Bacchus continue to call the victim multiple times.

Following his arrest, Bacchus told officers he was in love with the victim and wanted to apologize for releasing air from her tires.

He was charged with harassing phone calls.
