A Gainesville High School teacher was arrested Wednesday after he was accused of having sex with a 17-year-old.
The girl told Gainesville Police on Tuesday that she had been in a relationship with Kenneth T. Alaimo, 25, a teacher and soccer coach at Gainesville High School, an arrest report stated.
She said she met Alaimo in March, and the two had a sexual relationship between April and September. A journal she kept during that time listed at least four dates the two had sexual contact, the report stated.
Alaimo was arrested on four felony charges of unlawful sexual activity with a minor.
He told police he had sexual contact with the girl about 10 to 12 times since June, always in his apartment, the report stated.
Jackie Johnson, a spokeswoman for the Alachua County School District, said Alaimo would be on administrative leave throughout the investigation. Johnson said all school district employees are drug tested and background checked before being hired.
"This employee's record was absolutely clear," she said.
