The Board of Trustees, UF's highest governing body, will discuss a host of issues - including bleak budget expectations, money-saving plans and new parking decal prices - at its meetings Thursday and Friday.
The board will discuss the state Legislature, which is back in session this week.
Lawmakers are poised to announce major budget cuts expected to hit UF with slashes of nearly $50 million.
Machen told UF faculty at a meeting last month to find ways to cut 6 percent in all departments in preparation.
The board will discuss ways UF has tried to scrimp and save, such as hiring the Huron Consulting Group Inc. to pinpoint places in the budget that UF could cut from and ways to bring in more revenue.
Proposed changes to UF's parking decal fees, which would increase costs by about 10 percent, could also be approved.
