The UF Department of Recreational Sports is hosting its second annual Rec Sports Open House today.

The event will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Broward Outdoor Recreation Complex. All 39 UF sports clubs will be present with information for interested students, said Eric Ascher, sports club coordinator.

Additionally, representatives from intramural sports, recreational fitness classes and Lake Wauburg will be present, he said.

"We're going to be out there recruiting and engaging interested students," he said. "It's going to be like a carnival for Rec Sports."

Many of the clubs will be hosting skills demonstrations. The men's roller hockey club will have a shooting accuracy competition. Men's and women's volleyball will also host a serving drill. Students will be able to experience the popular "boot camp" fitness class at the open house, too. During the class, students learn sit-ups, push-ups and the army crawl.

Additionally, Gainesville Rock Gym will be at the open house with a giant portable rock wall for students to spider up and down.

Rec Sports will be handing out door prizes throughout the event, and free pizza will be provided.
