Your grocery store isn’t as capitalist as you think

Capitalism’s failure manifests itself in modern grocery stores. The premise of capitalism suggests rigorous and free competition among companies will lower prices, increase innovation and raise wages for most people. By balancing supply and demand, capitalism seeks to ensure people are paying the lowest possible price. But corporate consolidation has only created an illusion of competition, and it has prevented prices from flowing naturally. The modern grocery store is only posing as a free capitalist marketplace.

OPINION: Stop pretending ‘Gator Bait’ is the problem

We should acknowledge and learn from the history of the phrase, but we shouldn’t let it define the future. As long as the term is used for opposing offenses during a football game, everyone should chant it with pride and joy.

OPINION: Blame the NCAA, not the players

The NCAA is like an 8-year-old crowned king; technically the sovereign, but with no actionable authority. Players and schools have been able to sue their way around NCAA rulings. Despite this, they are still the governing body of college athletics, and should therefore receive the majority of the blame for the eligibility crisis afflicting collegiate sports.

OPINION: Uniform colors matter, and Florida isn’t using them to their full potential

The Florida Gators have iconic uniforms and colors but they haven’t been used to their fullest potential. However, the recent release of three new uniforms for this upcoming football season have me optimistic that the orange and blue will finally be unleashed.

While Fishback is primarily a provocateur, he built a sizable political coalition supported by a real platform. It would be a mistake to discount Fishback’s support as entirely based on instigation.
