Sarah Krantz, Supervisor of Elections

Election season or complaint season? Right now, it is hard to tell the difference. Complaints have been filed, injunctions issued, subpoenas requested and the Student Government Supreme Court was involved. Various people have issued complaints to the Election Commission from various parties over a variety of issues.

With all of this going on it must seem hard to trust the election process and the political parties. Nevertheless, we must. Just because the Election Commission is working overtime does not mean the process cannot be trusted. In fact, the very idea of the Election Commission working so hard should ensure the election is being run smoothly and correctly.

We as students need to take pride in our legal system here at UF and trust that it is being used correctly rather than abused. Whether you like the current system or you want to see change in SG, it is your right to come out to slating and get involved.

As the supervisor of elections, I am asking the student body not to lose faith and to continue to trust the process of slating for senate. Please come to room 284 of the Reitz Union between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Tuesday to get involved with any party you feel upholds your values and goals for the student body.
