Gainesville Police Department officers charged two women Tuesday morning with stealing nearly ,10,000 worth of jewelry at The Oaks Mall from CJ Jewelers.

Kendrea Ivery Jones, 23, and Latoya Lashae Williams, 22, were charged with grand theft and sent to Alachua County Jail, a report stated.

A woman allegedly entered CJ Jewelers on Monday night and began to smash out the glass in a jewelry display case with a tire iron, the arrest report stated.

She removed about ,9,867 worth of gold jewelry before fleeing on foot, the report stated.

CJ Jewelers identified Jones as the woman, the report stated.

Jones and Williams were each being held on a ,25,000 bond Tuesday, online jail records stated.

After being read her Miranda rights, Williams told police that two unidentified women had asked Williams and Jones to drive them to CJ Jewelers, the report stated.

She said to police that the unidentified women stated that they would split the jewelry between the four of them, the report stated.
