A woman reported being raped early Wednesday morning in northeast Gainesville, according to the Gainesville Police Department.
A police report said she was standing on the 400 block of Northeast 13th Street at 3 a.m. when a man rode up on a blue bicycle.
He got off, pulled her into the woods and raped her, she told police.
The woman is in her 30s, said Lt. Keith Kameg, GPD spokesman. The woman described the suspect as a light-skinned black male, between 5'6" and 5'10" and in his late teens or early 20s.
He had short dreadlocks and was wearing a white T-shirt, blue jeans, black shoes and a baseball cap, she said.
GPD responded at 4 a.m., according to the police report.
Kameg said the rape might have been linked to a sexual assault in Gainesville early Tuesday morning.
In that instance, a man pulled a woman into the woods and attempted to rape her. She was able to fight him off, and he ran away.
That woman described the suspect similarly but said he was in his early 20s to late 30s, Kameg said.
