Talent Night offers winners chance to perform at Gator Growl

Local singers, bands and dancers will compete tonight at Gator Growl's Talent Night.

Winners will perform at Gator Growl on Nov. 2, stated a news release from Student Government Productions, which organizes Gator Growl.

Gator Growl is billed as the largest student-run pep rally in the world.

Tonight's free talent show will take place at the Reitz Union from 7 to 10.

Twenty-three finalists will vie for four spots: one soloist, one vocal group, one band and one dance group.

Because Taco Bell is sponsoring the event, everyone who attends will receive a free meal coupon, the release stated.

Finalists were narrowed down from more than 60 acts that auditioned throughout the fall.

Attendees will vote for their favorite performances with pennies. The money collected will be donated to a local children's charity.

Winners from previous years, such as guitarist Kellen Malloy, became Gainesville celebrities after their Gator Growl performances, the release stated.
