A new list of rights for people whose cars have been towed may be in every Gainesville towing office if the Gainesville City Commission approves it.
The city's Public Safety Committee met Wednesday to discuss tow companies posting a towing bill of rights.
Commissioner Jeanna Mastrodicasa said it will be referred back to the commission in November.
The commission first discussed the possibility of a towing bill of rights in September.
Mastrodicasa said changes might be made to the city towing rule to include new bill of rights requirements.
Potential changes made to the towing rule include tow companies having to show pictures of a towing infraction at no charge.
Mastrodicasa said normal picture-viewing hours would be Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
No additional fees can be charged for using a credit card.
However, fees can be charged for debit cards.
Tow companies are also liable for any entry damages they make to the interior of the vehicle.
Mike Weber, owner of Superior Towing, said the company has to unlock and enter vehicles about 50 percent of the time to help secure the vehicle.
Gainesville Police Department's Lt. Pete Backhaus said problems involving damages would be settled in civil court.
