Women's basketball first practice

Coach Amanda Butler is running her first official team practice as we speak.

The first 30 minutes were open to the media and I just got back from checking it out. Practice began with much of the same intensity that Butler herself displays. The guards and post players split up for a while to work on some position-specific skills. It was very fast-paced with quick drills. Emphasis was put on communication and not slowing down. Stretching ensued and then some running.

There was a girl at practice not listed on the roster, but I'm unsure of her status. Besides that, there was no roster information to report - everyone dressed and participated fully.
