Former Student Senate President asks supporters to give ,20 to commission campaign

In an effort to be elected to the Gainesville City Commission, former Student Senate President Robert Agrusa is asking fellow students and Gainesville residents for help in his new fundraising strategy.

Agrusa, a UF political science senior who is running for the commission's At-Large District 2 seat, is asking supporters to donate ,20 to help pay for campaign materials such as bumper stickers and signs, he said.

The campaign, which was released Wednesday, is called the "20 to Win" strategy.

The campaign will run for about a month.

The election for Agrusa's prospective seat is Jan. 29.

Agrusa said he wanted to use a grassroots approach.

By only asking for ,20, more people can be involved in his campaign, he said. Agrusa did not give a specific fundraising goal but said he wants to reach as many people as possible.

"It's a minimal amount for somebody to donate to a campaign, but it can go so far," Agrusa said.

Donations can be made through his Web site, www.voteagrusa08.com.
