A Tallahassee man died Sunday afternoon after he was shot in a downtown parking garage earlier that morning.
Andrew David Arosemena, 21, was shot in the head around 2:20 a.m. in the Southwest Downtown Parking Garage near University Avenue, said Lt. Keith Kameg, Gainesville Police Department spokesman.
The victim may be a student at Tallahassee Community College, but that isn't confirmed, he said.
Arosemena was brought to Shands at UF with life-threatening injuries, Kameg said.
Arosemena was in the front passenger seat of a maroon 2000 Lincoln Town Car and was waiting to get out of the garage, Kameg said.
Arosemena's brother was in the backseat and UF student William Austin Scott, 24, was the driver, Kameg said.
They were stuck behind a fairly new, light-blue car with a Florida tag, he said, and the four-door car looked like either a Ford Taurus or a Saturn.
Two unidentified black males walked up to the blue car and leaned into the passenger side window, apparently talking to the people inside, he said.
According to the brother and driver, Arosemena stuck his head out of the car and yelled, "Hurry up," to the blue car, Kameg said.
At this point, the two unidentified black males pulled out handguns and walked back to where the victim was sitting, he said.
Without further talking or provocation, one of the suspects shot Arosemena in the head, Kameg said.
The shooter was about 6 feet tall, in his early 20s and of medium build, Kameg said. He had short hair and wore blue jeans with a black T-shirt that had gold or green script on the front, he said.
The type of handgun he used is unknown.
After the shooting, the two black males ran away, Kameg said.
The other suspect was about 6 feet tall with a thin build. He wore a long, white T-shirt and blue jeans, he said.
The police have limited video of the two suspects running away.
"It's apparent that there were people in the video passing them," he said.
GPD is looking for witnesses who could help identify the suspects involved.
