A UF law student was hit by a car while jogging Monday morning. She was in critical condition as of Monday.
Catherine Barclift, a 22-year-old first-year law student from Fort Myers, suffered severe head injuries after a car hit her at the intersection of 34th Street and Radio Road, said UF spokesman Steve Orlando.
Her injuries are life threatening, Orlando said.
Barclift was taken to Shands at UF around 8:30 a.m., said Lt. Keith Kameg, Gainesville Police Department spokesman.
Parts of 34th Street were closed that morning as a result.
Barclift was in the surgical intensive care unit at Shands on Monday afternoon.
Kameg said the driver would not face criminal charges because witnesses said the light at the intersection was green when Barclift was hit.
Kameg said he had no information available about the driver by press time.
An e-mail from Robert Jerry, dean of the Levin College of Law, said Barclift's parents were traveling to Gainesville from their home in Fort Myers and asked students not to go to Shands.
