UF students will be able to choose whether to reduce the number of Student Senate seats when they vote in the Student Government spring elections on Feb. 26 and 27.

A constitutional amendment limiting the amount of Senate seats was approved Tuesday, securing a spot for it on the SG ballot.

The amendment would set the range of seats each semester from 40 to 50 instead of up to 60.

There are currently about 45 senators holding seats from the past two elections, or about 90 total. Eight SG position appointments were also approved unanimously Tuesday at the Student Senate's weekly meeting, which only lasted 15 minutes.

UF law students Brian Aungst, Steven Adamczyk and Ilan Kaufer were appointed as SG Supreme Court Justices. UF law student Luis Delgado was appointed as SG's Student Honor Court chancellor.

UF students Nicolette Nowak, Zareen Vaghaiwalla, Nicholas Zaitlik and Elan Saad were appointed as SG cabinet secretaries.
