The Orange and Blue party is the second Student Government party to announce its executive ticket for the Feb. 26 and Feb. 27 SG elections.

Tommy Jardon, a UF law student, will run for Student Body president with Frank Bracco, a UF political science and economics junior, for vice president and Shea Parrish, a UF finance junior, for treasurer.

Jardon said instead of conducting interviews to find running mates, the three met as a group to decide who would run for each position.

This isn't the first time Jardon has been involved with SG elections. He was the Impact Party president in fall 2005 and Action Party president in fall 2006.

He said Orange and Blue would focus on making SG more open and representative of UF's student body.

He said he and his running mates make a well-rounded ticket because they come from different political and cultural backgrounds. The group would support online voting for SG elections, which he said would increase voter turnout and help build a "truly representative" government.

He said Orange and Blue would aim to work on issues that affect students daily, such as parking decal prices. They would also determine how to spend SG's budget more efficiently to eliminate current financial waste in SG, he said.

Bracco said as director of Chomp the Vote, an SG program designed to increase student turnout at all elections, he learned what UF students want from SG.

He said students are constantly confused about why SG exists and what it does for students.

"If people don't know where their money is going, I think it's time for a change," Bracco said.

Parrish said as a finance student, she is prepared to manage money, and she's not intimidated by SG's more than $13 million budget. The responsibility wouldn't just belong to her, but her whole team, she said.

"We want to take a good look at how money is being spent to benefit the most students possible," Parrish said.
