Theatre Strike Force, UF's improvisation troupe, plans to auction off dates with some members of its Relay For Life team Wednesday night.

The auction will be held at Coconut's Comedy Club in the Clarion Gainesville Hotel & Conference Center on Newberry Road from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. Fifteen members will be auctioned off, and all bids will start at $5.

Catherine Alford, TSF's philanthropy chairwoman and Relay team captain, began the group's involvement with the fundraiser in 2005 after losing a family friend to cancer. In 2007, the team auctioned off 12 members for a total of $600.

"It is our biggest team yet, and we can't wait to raise a lot of money," Alford said of this year's auction.

Relay For Life is the American Cancer Society's international fundraiser. All proceeds from the date auction will go to the society.

Torey Greenwald, a member up for auction, plans to "ridiculously spoil" her highest bidder, promising intellectual conversation and cheesecake.

"No matter who it is, they deserve it," Greenwald said. "They're helping find a cure for cancer. That's a pretty worthy cause."
