Barbara Romzek, one of three CLAS dean finalists to tour UF today

One of the remaining candidates for the UF College of Liberal Arts and Sciences dean position is visiting campus today.

Barbara Romzek, University of Kansas CLAS associate dean for social sciences, will address UF students, faculty and staff at a 9 a.m. forum in Smathers Library.

Romzek is one of three remaining candidates.

One candidate, David Featherman, director of the University of Michigan's Center for Advancing Research and Solutions for Society, withdrew Friday, said Pramod Khargonekar, search committee chairman and UF engineering dean. Featherman was scheduled to visit UF on Wednesday and Thursday.

UF Provost Janie Fouke wrote in an e-mail she wasn't sure when she would make her final decision about the position.

Another candidate, Paul D'Anieri, University of Kansas CLAS associate humanities dean, visited UF on March 4 and 5. A third hopeful, Peter Coclanis, an associate provost at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, will visit UF on March 24 and 25.
