Women's Hoops - Two players did not travel to Raleigh

Freshman guard Kerri Simpson and sophomore point guard Brittaney Thomas did not travel with the team to its third-round game against N.C. State tonight. The Gators lost 80-55 in Raleigh.

Coach Amanda Butler said Simpson has mono and so her travel was limited by that.

Butler initially refused comment on Thomas, but then cited her absence as "team rules" and said that her status is uncertain for next season. Butler said team meetings would take place on Monday to talk about next year and that will be part of the discussion.

While Simpson didn't do much of anything this season, this may be the end of the sad Thomas tale. Thomas started the season by scoring 17 points to help UF defeat Xavier, its best win of the season. As time wore on, however, Thomas saw less and less playing time and was intentionally held out of half of a game earlier in the season due to team discipline.

I would say it's highly unlikely Thomas will be donning a UF uniform come next season.
