Harvin's surgery involves removal of heel bone

Percy Harvin may make defensive coordinators wince at his quick speed and darting cuts, but it is Harvin who is in plenty of pain after undergoing surgery on his right heel Monday night.

"They actually took bone out of his heel," UF coach Urban Meyer said after practice Wednesday. "Then they drilled holes in his heel."

Meyer said he talked to Harvin on Wednesday morning and planned to visit him after leaving practice.

The wide receiver is still expected to make a full recovery by the fall and should be at 100 percent by July or August.

INJURY UPDATE: Senior tight end Cornelius Ingram and junior college transfer Carl Moore are both suffering from ankle sprains. Both were at practice Wednesday, but Ingram was on crutches and Moore was in a boot.

ETC: Phil Trautwein, Jim Tartt, Louis Murphy, Kestahn Moore and Ingram will all see limited or no action in Saturday's Orange and Blue game, Meyer said Wednesday. … The offense finally came out victorious in a practice scrimmage Wednesday. On the last posession, Tim Tebow led a drive that resulted in a short field goal that gave the offense the win. … Former defensive end standout Jack Youngblood addressed the team after practice. Youngblood played for the Gators in 1968-70 before going on to star for the Los Angeles Rams from 1971-84 and was inducted in the initial four-person class for the Ring of Honor in Ben Hill Griffin Stadium in 2006.
