Library West's hours will be extended again during final exams this semester, and the Marston Science Library will stay open later, too.

Kellie Dale, Student Senate president, announced at a Senate meeting Tuesday night that students studying for exams could stick around at the libraries until 4 a.m. from April 19 to May 1.

Dale added that Einstein Bros. Bagels at the Hub would stay open until 2 a.m. during those days to benefit students spending late nights at the nearby Marston library.

"We wouldn't want students having to walk from Marston all the way to Library West to get some food," she said.

Adding another library to the late-night program would help ease overcrowding at Library West, she said.

She said it isn't yet known how much it would cost to keep Marston open during the extra hours, but keeping Library West open later will again cost about $5,000.

"Depending on its popularity, we'll see where we go for fall," Dale said.

The program could be extended to add other libraries and eateries.

Dale said when she met with Bob Miller, associate vice president for UF business affairs, it was also agreed to stop charging students at on-campus dining locations 35 cents for cups for water.

The change went into effect Friday.
